How to make use of these drawer icons
The drawer icon has to be dragged onto another disk, and then a
directory has to be created for the drawer. The case character (upper
and lower characters) is very important when creating drawers and
their accompanying icon! By the way a drawer can also be placed in an
existing drawer (subdirectory).
To create a directory on a disk, use the CLI or Shell and the
command called 'MAKEDIR' which is located in the 'C' directory of the
Workbench disk. The command syntax is as follows:
MAKEDIR drive#:myfile
'drive#' refers to drive you want the directory to appear
on ie. DF1:, DF2:, DH0: etc. The directory created would be called
myfile, NOT Myfile or any other possible versions of the name.
------
Copy the selected drawer to the disk (dragging the icon is the
simplest method), and rename the icon (RENAME is a workbench command
located on the extreme left of the pull down menu's) to correspond
with directory name you created with 'Makedir' command. Close the
opened disk window, if it hasn't already been closed. When the disk
icon is clicked again a window will open showing your created drawer.
Click the drawer icon, and your drawer icon should open. If the icon
fails to open a window, you probably changed the case of a letter or
number, or you mispelled either the directory or drawer icon name.
One further bit of information that you should know, it doesn't
matter whether the directory is created, first or icon is moved onto
a disk first.
One word of caution when copying files to your newly created drawer,
is that when copying files to the drawer, make sure that all the
files that work with a particular program are copied. Only the file
that is associated with the file and it's '.info' file are copied by
dragging the icon to another disk. It is a good idea to use a file
copy utility to ensure ALL associated files are properly copied to
your new drawer.
